Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport was named the third best facility in the world serving over 40 million passengers per year at the 2017 Airport Service Quality Awards, according to organizer Montreal-headquartered Airports Council International in March .

This marks the first time TTIA has been recognized in the 40 million-plus category—the highest capacity grouping—since it exceeded the passenger threshold in 2016.
Facility operator Taoyuan International Airport Corp. said the honor spotlights the company’s commitment to delivering top-quality facilities and services. Efforts to enhance operational excellence and user experiences are evidenced by the ongoing expansion of Terminal 2 and the launch of construction on the 45 million passenger capacity Terminal 3, it added.

TTIA handled 44.88 million passengers in 2017. Upgrades on Terminal 2 will be completed later this year, while the Terminal 3 project includes a new runway and a multifunctional building connecting to Terminal 2.

The Airport Service Quality Awards are based on over 600,000 passenger satisfaction surveys of 343 airports in 84 countries and territories. Winners will be honored at a ceremony during the inaugural ACI Customer Excellence Global Summit Sept. 10-13 in Canada.

TTIA has consistently excelled in the awards. It was named the second best facility in the 25-40 million passenger category in 2015 before claiming first place in that grouping the following year.

The airport has also achieved top marks in other surveys, receiving the award for best airport staff services in the world from U.K.-based air travel research group Skytrax in 2017
